Review of Elector Representation

NOTICE is hereby given that the Council has undertaken a review to determine whether alterations are required in respect to elector representation, including ward boundaries and the composition of Council.

As an outcome of this review Council proposes the following.

The Principal Member of Council continues to be a Chairperson, chosen by and from amongst the elected members of Council (with the title of Mayor).

  1. The existing “no wards” structure be retained.
  2. The future elected body of Council comprise seven (7) area councillors (ie a reduction of one elected member/councillor).

Council has prepared a Representation Review Report which details the review process, the public consultation undertaken and the proposal Council considers should be carried into effect.  A copy of this report is available on Council's website (, or a copy can be inspected and/or purchased at the Council office, 10 Main Street, Cleve.

Written submissions are invited from interested persons from 12 April 2017 and should be directed to the Chief Executive Officer, PO Box 36, Cleve 5640 or emailed to by close of business on 19 May 2017.
