Public Consultation: Kangaroo Sculpture Acquisition

HAVE YOUR SAY
The District Council of Cleve invites members of the community to participate in a public consultation regarding the proposed acquisition of new kangaroo artworks by local artist Peter Crosby. The sculpture features a family of three kangaroos—Sylv, Rodney, and Jethroe. These artworks would complement the existing public art collection throughout our district, enhancing tourism appeal while showcasing local artistic talent.

About the Proposed Artwork
The purchase of a life-sized sculpture of a family of three kangaroos, created by local artist Peter Crosby, at a cost of $50,000 + GST. The kangaroos have been named Sylv, Rodney and Jethroe, with the female roo's name paying tribute to Crosby's late grandmother Sylvia, who lived most of her 100 years in Cleve. This possible acquisition would expand Cleve's collection of public art by Crosby, joining his previous works:
  • Bonnie the Clydesdale near the Post Office
  • Redgie the Wedgie outside the Council building
  • Clyde the Clydesdale at Crosby's property on the outskirts of Cleve
These sculptures have become popular attractions for tourists, particularly among the grey nomad community, bringing valuable tourism revenue to our local businesses.
